Living Beyond You ( Find Your Full Expression)

In my book titled REDEFINED. I explained that living beyond yourself or living a higher life is first a call to being; it is a call to be who God has created you to be. When Jesus called his disciples, although he intended to make them his ambassadors, the scriptures record: “that may be with him” (Mark3:14b). The first step of our redefining is having a relationship with Jesus Christ; He is the fountain, the source from which everything flows. From Him we are, and in Him we become.

Ask yourself this question

• What is your relationship with God like?
• Is it merely peripheral?
• Are you uninvolved?
• Or are you daily connected to the rich flow of God’s largesse?
• Who is God to you? Who has God created you to be?
• What has He said about you? Who are you in Him?

The answers to these questions are not found on Google; if at all they are, you can only find generic answers. The specific answers aren’t found there. We could tell that what flowed out of Mother Teresa’s life was a result of where she had been with God. Where have you been with God?

Becoming is meant for everyone regardless of religious persuasion but it is better understood by those who have a relationship with God. It took a while for me as a growing Christian in my much younger years to understand what was meant by having a relationship with God. What exactly does this mean? Having a relationship with God starts with knowing that Jesus Christ, the son of God came as the Saviour of the world to die for the sins of humanity.

The confession of our sins and acceptance of this eternal reality is the first step to having a relationship with God. It means you have an understanding of Him that is specific and unique to you in addition to the general knowledge of Him you have.

It is having the understanding that this Supreme Being cares about you and is concerned with every detail of your life. He has your name engraved in the palms of His hands and He is involved in every single step, season, and phase of your life. It also means knowing that you can (consciously on your part) share your life with Him. In reality, with or without our knowledge, God is involved in our lives anyway; but having that awareness is cultivating a relationship with God. Knowing God as a father, friend, master, partner, and lover is what a relationship with Him means. Of all these titles, knowing God as a Father is the utmost.
